The Memory of the Church portal continues to be regularly updated with new materials. Among the recently published ones are the memoirs of Archbishop Filaret (Karagodin). At one time, Vladyka headed three dioceses, in 1989 he was the vicar of the Odessa Assumption Monastery, and in 1992-1995 he was the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy.
In the published conversation, Vladyka Filaret recalls his childhood in post-war Odessa, where his father served as a priest, Metropolitan Sergius (Petrov) and His Holiness Patriarch Pimen, with whom he served as a subdeacon for many years, about Odessa and Moscow theological schools, as well as his episcopal ministry at the Astrakhan department in the early 1990s. years.
"Of course, I wanted to become a priest. But not as a bishop. I was a subdeacon for Metropolitan Sergius of Odessa for a long time, for four years, and then I was a subdeacon for Patriarch Pimen for almost seven years. I saw, of course, how difficult it was for the bishops, what a burden they were bearing. At the same time, there was also the Council for Religious Affairs, the commissioners, the situation was difficult, everything had to be coordinated. But it was good before Khrushchev," recalls Vladyka Filaret.
Among the new materials published on the portal are memoirs of priests and laity of the Vologda, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov, Tula, Stavropol, Grozny, Perm, Irkutsk and Barnaul dioceses.
