From July 13 to 15, 2024, a youth bike ride took place in the Ustyuzhensk deanery of the Cherepovets diocese. The organizer of the event, which was attended by 32 people from Ustyuzhna, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl and Cherepovets, was the Sunday school of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Ustyuzhna.
The purpose of the bike ride was to install a Cross of Worship in the village of Chyrets, Ustyuzhensky district, on the site where the stone church of the Presentation of the Lord, destroyed in the 40s of the XX century, was once located.
Having overcome the 35-kilometer path and arrived at the place, the young people got acquainted with the history of the church of the Presentation of the Lord and with the biographies of the executed priests who once served in it.
On July 14, at the place where the Sretensky Temple stood, the participants of the bike ride installed a Worship cross, made by them in advance.
The rite of consecration of the Cross was performed by Priest Dimitri Gromov, a cleric of the Annunciation Church in Ustyuzhna.
Also, a funeral commemoration of the clergy and parishioners of the destroyed church killed during the years of repression took place at the Cross of Worship.
The young travelers spent three days on the picturesque bank of the Mologa River. They prayed together, communicated with each other, played sports, sang songs to the guitar around the campfire.
Cycling has become a bright and memorable page for young people this summer.
