Patriarch Daniel of Romania has called on believers to pray for peace among nations and to actively support those in need, as part of his Easter message released on Tuesday.
In his annual address, the head of the Romanian Orthodox Church encouraged the faithful not only to share in the joy of Christ’s Resurrection but also to respond to today’s global crises with compassion and solidarity. While Easter is traditionally celebrated as a “feast of joy and peace,” Patriarch Daniel emphasized the importance of putting Christian values into practice.
“The Feast of the Resurrection calls us to show joy, peace, and brotherly love… to help the poor and the lonely, and to pray for those who suffer,” he said.
Highlighting ongoing international tensions, the Patriarch underscored the need for prayers “for peace and understanding between nations.” He also urged believers to support fellow Romanians living abroad, acknowledging the challenges faced by diaspora communities.
In his message, Patriarch Daniel reiterated the central Christian teaching that Christ’s Resurrection signifies the triumph of life over death and opens the path to eternal life. He noted that Christ’s first words after the Resurrection—“Rejoice” and “Peace be with you”—capture the essence of Easter as a time of hope, reconciliation, and unity.
Concluding his message, the Patriarch expressed confidence that the joy of Easter should be reflected not only in worship but also in concrete acts of kindness and generosity, especially in a world where the pursuit of peace remains a pressing concern.
