On April 17, the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate hosted a meeting between Metropolitan Anthony, Chairman of the DECR, and Hegumen Varlaam (Dulsky), cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
During the conversation, Hegumen Varlaam spoke about the life of the Russian Orthodox Church parish in Tehran in the context of the ongoing tense situation. Special attention was paid to the events of April 1, when a ballistic missile attack took place near the temple. The clergyman reported on the state of the cathedral after the incident and outlined the difficulties faced by the parish.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the spiritual life of the community does not stop. As Abbot Varlaam noted, a festive divine service was held in the church on Easter Night, which became an important testimony to the steadfastness and faith of the parishioners.
Following the meeting, Metropolitan Anthony expressed gratitude to Hegumen Varlaam for his dedication to pastoral ministry and personal courage shown in difficult conditions.
