On the day of the repose of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, on October 9, 2024, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraisk, celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the territory of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant (NPP) under construction in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
His Eminence was co-served by Archpriest Alexy Mashkov, rector of the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Egypt, and Priest Georgy Maksimov, Chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
The service was attended by ASE Vice-President, Director of the El-Dabaa NPP construction project A.V. Kononenko, his deputies V.G. Brich and V.V. Kochetkov, Executive Director of the Christian Culture and Heritage Support Fund E.I. Skopenko.
At the end of the service, His Eminence addressed the audience with an archpastoral address.
Before the service on this day, Archpriest Alexy performed the sacrament of Infant Baptism, and after the Liturgy, a holy water prayer service was served.
On the eve of October 8, the bishop held a meeting with the head of the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant, A.V. Kononenko, and his assistants.
During the conversation, the issues of spiritual and moral care of our numerous compatriots who work at this facility were discussed.
