The Macedonian Orthodox Church expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims of the fire at the Pulse nightclub in the city of Kochani, which claimed the lives of 59 people, including many teenagers.

In his address, Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid and Macedonia urged the faithful to pray for the repose of the victims' souls and the healing of the injured. Memorial services are being held in all churches across the country, and the clergy is offering support to the grieving families.

"We pray for the salvation of the innocently killed and ask the Lord to provide comfort to their families. In these days of mourning, we must preserve peace in our hearts and unite in prayer," the statement reads.

The tragedy has sparked widespread protests, with citizens demanding a fair investigation and accusing the authorities of corruption and negligence. According to official reports, the nightclub operated with violations: the premises had been converted from a warehouse, lacked fire alarms, and the emergency exit was locked at the time of the fire.

As reported by TASS, 20 people have been arrested in connection with the case, including the nightclub owner and former officials. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Panche Toshkovski, acknowledged that the issuance of the nightclub's license was accompanied by corruption.

A seven-day mourning period has been declared in the country. During these days, the Church is calling on the people not only to mourn but also to unite in faith and prayer.
