From July 29 to August 1, 2022 in Arzamas will be held the International Festival-contest of Orthodox and patriotic song Arzamas Domes, timed to the Day of Baptism of Russia and the celebration in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov, reports the official city web site.

St. Seraphim of Sarov is one of the most popular Russian saints of the XIX century, a precursor of the Christian Orthodox religious revival.

His canonization was promoted by the Emperor Nicholas II. In 903 the emperor participated in the festivities of canonization (glorification) of St. Seraphim.

The festival is held with the blessing of Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, and its organizers are the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, the Charitable Foundation of St. Seraphim of Sarov and the administration of the city of Arzamas. During its ten-year history the festival brought together about 2,500 performers from nearly 50 provinces of Russia, as well as from other countries.
