With the blessing of the Head of the Perm Metropolis, His Eminence Methodius, Metropolitan of Perm and Kungur, on October 5, a city procession dedicated to the memory of the Holy Great Martyr Eustathius Plakida took place in Perm. The route of the prayer procession ran from the Peter and Paul Cathedral to the place of the appearance of the saint.
The tradition of holding a procession in Perm was known even before the revolution. It is connected with the following legend: a few years before the construction of the Egoshikha factory (XVIII century), Saint Eustathius appeared to a peasant of the village of Gory (Gorki), located on the right side of the Egoshikha River. A wooden pillar with an icon of the saint was erected at the site of the miraculous appearance of the great martyr, which was moved to the Peter and Paul Cathedral after the completion of the construction of the first church in Perm. Every year on September 20 (October 3), on the day of memory of the Great Martyr Eustathius, the residents of the Egoshikhinsky factory, and then the residents of Perm, made a solemn procession to the village of Gorki to the place of the miraculous appearance of the saint.
In modern times, with the blessing of His Eminence Methodius, Metropolitan of Perm and Kungur, the tradition of making the procession was revived, and, for the third year in a row, residents of the regional capital prayerfully honor the memory of the saint.
This year, about 300 people took part in the procession.
At the final point of the prayer route, the conciliar ministry of the clergy of the Perm diocese celebrated a prayer service to the Holy Great Martyr Eustathius Plakida, who is one of the heavenly patrons of Perm.
