The Church of the Kazan Mother of God at the Auction in the center of Vologda is planned to be restored. Currently, by order of the governor of the region, funds have been allocated for the preparation of design estimates for the restoration. In addition, research is underway: a search and collection of materials about the temple is carried out in the archives of Vologda, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The stone church was built in the middle of the XVIII century with the help of parishioners on the site of an existing wooden church. During the Soviet years, all three chapters and the cross on the bell tower were demolished, and the bell tower itself was dismantled. Interestingly, a unique painting of the XVIII century has been preserved in the temple under the late painting. In 2015, the first Liturgy was celebrated in the church in 86 years since the closure.
In 2025, work on wastewater disposal will begin. The preservation of the unique painting of the XVIII century is one of the key issues.
The project will also include the restoration of the historical architectural appearance of the church: the construction of a bell tower, landscaping of the temple grounds, installation of lanterns. Patrons will also be involved in the implementation of these plans.
