On March 16, 2025, Metropolitan Ioannis of Korça was elected the new Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania. Following this, the heads of Orthodox Churches and representatives of Christian organizations sent him congratulatory messages.

Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel held a phone conversation with Archbishop Ioannis, congratulating him on his election and wishing him to continue the work of his predecessor, the blessed Archbishop Anastasius, who played a key role in the revival of the Albanian Church.

Romanian Patriarch Daniel, in his message, wished Archbishop Ioannis "many blessed years" and God's help in his new ministry. He also expressed hope for the strengthening of fraternal relations between the Churches.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, upon learning of the election results, sent a congratulatory message, emphasizing the significance of this event and wishing the new Archbishop a long and fruitful primatial ministry.

Congratulations also came from Antiochian Patriarch John X, who expressed joy over the election of the new head of the Albanian Church and wished him God's blessings in his pastoral service.

Furthermore, the World Council of Churches (WCC) noted that the election of Archbishop Ioannis was a recognition of his theological wisdom and unwavering faith. WCC General Secretary Jerry Pillay wished him strength and blessings, emphasizing the importance of his ministry at a time when the world is in need of hope and reconciliation.

The Moderator of the WCC Central Committee, Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, called the choice of the new head "the best decision," highlighting his spiritual strength and pastoral presence.
