National Unity Day was celebrated in Russia on November 4. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church on National Unity Day and noted the role of the Church in maintaining the tradition of patriotism. On this day, Patriarch Kirill, along with President Putin, took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky on Red Square in Moscow. The President and the Patriarch also visited the exhibition-forum "Orthodox Russia — for National Unity Day". The Head of state was shown an icon created specifically for the exhibition – the image of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna Romanova, the solemn consecration of which is timed to coincide with the 160th anniversary of her birth.
Celebrations in honor of National Unity Day were also held in Russian missions abroad. Thus, in Israel, Patriarch Theophilus of Jerusalem attended a reception in honor of the holiday at the residence of the Russian ambassador. And in Moscow, representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate, the Assyrian Church of the East and the Armenian Apostolic Church held a round table in honor of National Unity Day at the Assyrian Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Mat Maryam).
A Global summit of religious Leaders was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on November 5 and 6, timed to coincide with the 29th annual UN Climate Change Conference (COP29). Among the participants of the religious summit were leaders of traditional Christian, Islamic, Jewish and Buddhist communities from different regions of the world, government and public figures, representatives of the expert community and journalists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Serbia, Romania, Mongolia, the USA, the EU and other regions. The Russian delegation was headed by Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The Western European dioceses of the Russian Church Abroad accept the miraculous "Hawaiian" Iveron icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The shrine arrived from North America and has already been worshiped by the faithful of Switzerland, France, Monaco and Italy. On November 1, the meeting of the icon in Zurich was led by Bishop Irenaeus of London and Western Europe. On this day, a prayer service and a procession took place in front of the shrine, which gathered thousands of believers: parishioners of the Western European Diocese of the Russian Church Abroad and the Korsun Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Celebrations were held in Minsk in honor of the 35th anniversary of the Belarusian Exarchate and the 10th anniversary of the Minsk Metropolis. The holiday was celebrated on November 3, the memorial day of the Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Belarusian land. The Divine Liturgy at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk was led by the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavsky. On the evening of November 2, on the eve of the celebrations, the ark with the relics of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk and the ark with the relics of St. Euphrosyne of Moscow were brought to the cathedral for the worship of the faithful. The event was the final stage of an interstate project, thanks to which honest relics were passed through many cities of Russia and Belarus.
Bulgaria celebrated the 130th anniversary of the Nevrokop Diocese. Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria led a solemn divine service and a procession in the central city of the diocese — Gotse Delchev. Scientific conferences and exhibitions were also held in the diocese on the occasion of the anniversary.
In the Serbian Novi Sad, they said goodbye to those who died during the collapse of the roof of the station, which occurred last week. Metropolitan Irinej of Bacha performed a prayer service for the repose of the dead and the healing of the injured, and addressed the faithful with words of comfort and support. After three days of mourning, mass protests began in the city demanding the resignation of the authorities and punishment of those responsible for the tragedy. The Diocese of Baca of the Serbian Orthodox Church has issued an appeal to the residents of Novi Sad, calling for an end to riots and violence.
A delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate paid a visit to India, where representatives of the Russian Church took part in church celebrations in honor of St. Gregory of Parumala. During the holiday, the Primate of the Malankara Church of India was awarded the Order of Glory and Honor of the first degree. The award was given for the significant contribution of the Catholicos to strengthening friendly relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church.
