On April 24, 2025, the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church visited a number of historical monastic monasteries located in the Moscow region.
The trip to the monasteries was attended by: Bishop Stefan of Remesia, representative of the Patriarch of Serbia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Archimandrite Khariton (Pavlitsa), rector of the Kovil Monastery; Protodeacon Radomir Obrashinich, rector of St. Sava's Seminary in Belgrade; Protodeacon Radoica Jagran; Hierodeacon Justin (Zhivanich), resident of the Kovil Monastery; Deacon Ivan Vasilyevich; and Subdeacon V. Thank you. The delegation was accompanied by Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, and Hegumen Feofan (Lukyanov), Head of the DECR Protocol Sector.
Archimandrite Feofilakt (Bezukladnikov), the monastery's vicar, met the guests at the Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery, founded in 1656. Representatives of the Serbian Church were given a tour of the Resurrection Cathedral, whose architecture captures the aspiration to Heavenly Jerusalem and the memory of earthly Jerusalem, including the buildings of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The delegation was addressed by the choir of pupils of the Orthodox gymnasium in honor of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary "The Sign" in Khovrin (Moscow), who performed Serbian folk songs.
Then the participants of the trip visited the Savva-Storozhevsky Stavropol Monastery, which was founded by St. Savva Storozhevsky, the Wonderworker of Zvenigorod, one of the first disciples of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The monastery traces its history back to 1398.
Archimandrite Stefan (Tarakanov), the monastery's vicar, greeted the guests at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The members of the delegation worshiped the relics of St. Sava Storozhevsky, and also visited the Trinity Church and ascended the monastery bell tower.
