Alarming data collected in a recent article, The Collapse of Faith in America, indicate some troubling trends in America, all of which suggest a nation that is turning its back on Christ.

The main data points are troubling:

• * Fewer Americans are calling themselves Christians. — In the early 1970s, 92 percent of all Americans identified as Christians. Today, only 63 percent of Americans still identify as Christians. The decline has greatly accelerated in recent years, suggesting that it won't be long before it is under 50 percent.
  
  
• * Church attendance in America has been falling for decades. — This decline has accelerated in recent years. Just over the past five years, church attendance has dropped nearly 10%. 
  
  
• * Thousands of churches are closing every year in America. — This trend spans across numerous Protestant denominations, and Catholicism as well. 
  
  
• * Most parents don't care about their children's religious beliefs. — Recent data is showing that parents are placing less importance on their children growing up to have religious or political beliefs that are similar to their own. Only about a third of parents (35%) say it is extremely or very important to them that their children share their religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, numerous recent news reports in Russia reveal a nation that can't stop building new churches. Indeed, a number of Orthodox Christian holy elders and saints have predicted the rise of Russia and the fall of America. The recent data suggests that these predictions should be taken seriously.
