The Holy Martyr Theodosia of Tyre suffered in 307. On May 29, the transfer of her relics to Constantinople and later to Venice is celebrated.
One day, during the persecution of Christians, which had lasted for five years, seventeen-year-old Theodosia approached the condemned Christian prisoners who were in pretoria. It was Easter Day, and the martyrs were talking about the Kingdom of God. Saint Theodosia asked them to remember her before the Lord when they presented themselves to Him. The soldiers saw that the girl bowed to the prisoners, took her and took her to the ruler Urvan.
The ruler forced the girl to sacrifice to idols, but she refused, professing her faith in Christ. Then the saint was subjected to cruel tortures, her body was whittled with iron claws so that the bones were exposed.
The martyr endured her sufferings in silence and with a joyful face, and to the ruler's second offer to sacrifice to idols, she replied: "You're crazy, because I was honored to join the martyrs!" A girl with a stone around her neck was thrown into the sea, but the Angels brought her out of the abyss. Then the martyr was given to the beasts to eat. Seeing that the animals did not touch her, the tormentors cut off her head. At night, Saint Theodosia appeared to the parents, who were trying to persuade their daughter not to go to suffering, in light clothes, with a crown on her head and a shining golden cross in her hand, and said: "Look, that's what great glory you wanted to deprive me of!"
