On March 17, 2025, Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria held a prayer service for the victims of the tragedy in Macedonia, as reported by BTA. The service took place at the Cathedral of St. Nedelya in Sofia, with the Ambassador of North Macedonia to Bulgaria, Agnesa Rusi, in attendance.

After the memorial service, the Patriarch blessed oil for the healing of the injured. In his address, he expressed deep condolences to the people of North Macedonia, emphasizing that all Orthodox Bulgarians are praying for the souls of the deceased, for the support of their loved ones, and for the healing of the survivors.

"We are living in days of trials, especially during Great Lent. In these moments, it is important not only to mourn but also to reflect on what happened, to see the mistakes that led to the tragedy, and to seek repentance," said Patriarch Daniel.

Earlier, on March 16, a large fire at a nightclub in the Macedonian city of Kočani claimed the lives of 59 people, with 155 others injured. Condolences were expressed by representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches, as well as Pope Francis. Patriarch Daniel had a telephone conversation with Archbishop Stefan of Macedonia and Ohrid, offering his heartfelt condolences and assuring him of the prayerful support of the Orthodox Christians in Bulgaria.
