The religious association "Belarusian Orthodox Church" was re-registered on September 20, 2024. Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Alexander Rumak solemnly handed over the registration documents to the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavsky, BelTA reports.
In accordance with the law "On Amendments to Laws on the Activities of Religious Organizations" dated December 30, 2023, previously registered religious organizations are required to bring their charters into line with the law and submit them to the registration authorities for re-registration.
As Alexander Rumak explained to journalists, religious organizations have been given a year to bring their charters into line with the law and submit documents for re-registration.
"The Belarusian Orthodox Church was the first to do this work. Today we signed the documents. In accordance with the law, the Church received a certificate of state registration. In parallel, the necessary information will be entered into the Unified State Register of Legal Entities," he said.
The Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs stressed the active cooperation of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and the state on various issues relevant to society. First of all, we are talking about the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation. The Church participates in solving the problems of the elderly, the lonely, people with disabilities, as well as social rehabilitation, the return to normal life of dependent people in institutions of the executive system. According to him, such cooperation is facilitated by the agreement concluded in 2003 between the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Orthodox Church, which provides opportunities for interaction both at the national and local levels with various state organizations.
