The Armenian community structures of Iran have set up headquarters to coordinate and provide necessary assistance to their compatriots amid the fighting. This was stated by Iranian journalist Tigran Davudyan to Sputnik Armenia.
According to him, the headquarters are located in the residence of the head of the Iranian diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the offices of deputies of Armenian origin. Similar actions were taken during last year's 12-day Iran-Israel escalation.
"The headquarters are exchanging information about the possible presence of Armenians among the victims of the airstrikes. But so far no information has been received in this regard," Davudyan said.
As for the internal political situation in Iran against the background of the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to our interlocutor, the death of the supreme leader is unlikely to lead to a split. According to him, Iran has a clear system that does not depend on an individual and is based on ideology.
"A state based on Shiite ideology does not depend on individuals in any way. Ministers and commanders die, but their successors are appointed very soon. Of course, the death of the supreme leader had a psychological impact – part rejoices at his death, part grieves," he added.
Davudyan noted that many people want reforms and transformations in Iran. But at the same time, they want it to happen without shocks. Armenia also needs a strong, sovereign and stable Iran.
