This Forum, now being held for the thirtieth time, used to be linked to the Christmas holidays, but it has been recently moved to a more favorable season of the late Spring, when the memory of Saints Cyril and Methodius who are credited for inventing the Slavic alphabet and bringing the Gospel to the Slavic people is observed on May 24th.

Thousands of participants from all over Russia, neighboring and remote countries, clergymen, scholars, educators, students, and inquisitive individuals gather these days in the Russian capital. They pray together at the Liturgy (as many as the church capacity affords) and join at the plenary session of the Forum in the colossal concert hall in the Kremlin.

Thereafter the practical part of the Forum starts which lasts two or three days. Dozens of venues in Moscow will house conferences, meetings, lectures and seminars on the variety of topics and subjects, from Theology and Patristics to music, fine art and child care. Concert halls, museums and exhibitions offer an extensive range of cultural programs.

The Parliamentary Conference will also be held for the members of the Russian Federal Legislative Assembly to meet with the representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church: this year it will be focused on the development of traditional moral principles in Public Schools and the Church-State partnership within the civil society.
