Heb. 9:24-28; Mk. 8:27-31

The Lord asked the apostles who they thought He was, and St. Peter answered for everybody: “Thou art the Christ” [Mk. 8:29].

It took time for this confession of faith to mature; but when it did, it rooted deeply in the heart, becoming its basic navigation instrument. Marred, though not dislodged, by the death of the Lord, it was revived with yet greater power by His Resurrection and navigated the apostles throughout their whole life to preaching the Gospel all over the world.

There is also an instant in the life of every faithful Christian when he says with all his strength: “Thou art the Christ, my Lord and Savior, thou art my salvation, my enlightenment, my strength, my consolation, my hope and eternal life”.  Then happens a conversion of his heart which makes him to cry out, together with St. Paul: “Who shall separate me form the love of Christ?” [Rom. 8:35], and, just like the apostle, he devotes his whole life to the pursuit of godliness, until he comes into measure of the age of Christ [Eph. 4:13].
