Acts 6:8-7:5,47-60; Jn. 4:46-54
St. Stephan said: “The Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands… what house will ye build Me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of My rest?” [Acts 7:48-49]. It is only the human heart, the church not made with hands, that can become an abode of God, as the Lord said: “If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him” [Jn. 14:23].
How that can happen we cannot possibly fathom; but it is indeed so ─ for then everyone can see that God worketh in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure [Phil. 2:13]. Stop reasoning; just give your heart to the Lord [Pr. 23:26], and He will make of it a church for Himself ─ only make sure to give it to Him entirely. If you don’t give Him your whole heart, it cannot be made into a whole church; something will be rotten there, something else broken, ─ and what will come out of it, if anything at all, will be a building with ruptured walls, no roof or missing doors. Such a building is unfit for living; so, the Lord will not live in it. It will only look like a church, remaining in fact just a pile of rubble.
