Acts 12:25-13;12; Jn. 8:51-59

The Jews were angry with the Lord for His reproach and “took up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” [Jn. 8:59].  They did no harm to the Lord, but doomed themselves, for their disbelief brought about Lord’s terrible sentence: “Behold, your house is left unto you desolate” [Mt. 23:38] and “Let us go hence” [Jn. 14:31].  So, the Lord has gone to another place and chose other peoples to dwell among them, instead of Israel whom He had loved.

And now, likewise, some worthless people in their arrogant delusion, incapable of holding the truth of Christ, take up and through at Him stones of anti-Christianity.  They cannot harm Him, for He is the Lord anyway, and His truth does not change; they only ruin themselves.

The Lord passes by them, leaving them to be swept by their own folly, like dust by a whirlwind.  But when a nation as a whole is taken over by such folly, then it is left to its lot, just like the Jews.  Understand this, all ye nations, and submit to the Lord!
