Acts 10:44-11:10; Jn. 8:21-30

When people asked Him, “Who art thou?”, the Lord answered: “Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning” [Jn. 8:25]. He is ahead of all, followed by the holy Apostles, followed by the pastors and teachers and the entire Church of Christ.

Now look who are truly the leaders. Even though so many have been following them for so long and will follow them in the future, they still remain the leaders, for they are still ahead of others. That is, we Christians know our leaders, and if new leaders of some kind emerge, ─ then, obviously, they lead us in the opposite direction, that is, towards the bottom of hell.

There isn’t much to add to this. Just beware: don’t be your own enemies. Make sure to understand this profoundly, and hold fast to the truth of Christ which you know, ─ never mind what those leaders say.

I sincerely thank all of you for praying for me. I know that this prayer is daily, the whole Church prays, and, probably, without this prayer it would be impossible to carry out the Patriarchal ministry. But when they pray for me on this day, a personal day, with which the very appearance of a person in life is connected, then, I think, this prayer is heard by the Lord, and help is poured out on the one for whom they pray. And through those present here, I thank all of you now, my dear bishops, fathers, brothers and sisters, who today, all over the face of our earth, in all the fullness of our Church, have been offering up prayers for the Patriarch.
